Newsreader - Erin Gill


Personal:

Erin works as a teacher at Mount Isa Special School and is getting married in July next year to Geoffrey, they are sharing a house with three dogs and a cat. In her spare time she likes to play basketball and her squash team remains undefeated so far this year. She has lived in Mount Isa for three and a bit years and moved here from Rockhampton.


Theatre Experience:
Erin has studied speech and drama for 10 years. She was part of the Rockhampton Little Theatre for a few years, and has been involved with Rockhampton Musical Union where she performed in Alice in Wonderland and travelled to several Eistedfords. Erin got involved with MITS last year performing as Hermia in a Midsummer Night's dream. She played the part of Marty in Grease at the Mount Isa Civic Centre in 2006. Why does she keep coming back to all things theatrical? It's simple: "I like the people involved with the theatre".

Voice Over - Peter Lubke


Personal:
Peter was born and bred in Ipswich, and lived in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast before moving to the North-West six years ago. He works as a teacher at the Mount Isa Special School and is married and has one daughter and numerous birds, 2 dogs and 2 cats. He is a mad keen fisherman and is involved with APEX, 4WDing, and likes performing with local bands and orchestras and keeps himself busy with the Qld Teacher’s Union and Mount Isa Traces and Labour Council.

Theatre Experience:
Peter has been involved with theatre, musicals and choir from a young age, he also play the organ, bass, double bass, electrical bass and tuba and was the Musical Director for the Mount Isa Civic Centre production of Grease. He has played in ‘Pirates of Penzance’, ‘Ginger Megs’ and other productions and plays tuba with the Mt Isa Concert Band, the Spinifex State College Band and the newly formed Mt Isa Brass Quartet. Peter joined MITS in 2004 where he has concentrated on the technical side of productions, he has held the position of Director of Properties on the MITS Committee in 2006 and 2007, and has been involved with most productions since joining. “Being part of theatre in Mount Isa gives me the chance to use the skills that I have gained over the years and contribute to the cultural side of the community as well as making many good friends.”

Peter - Li-Wen (Wes) Yip


Personal:
Wes moved to Mount Isa last year January to work as an electrical engineer at the Mount Isa Mines. In his spare time de likes to attack old cars with all kinds of power tools, he also likes to play guitar and compose and sing his own music. You can find him performing at the Music Shack when he is not involved with MITS productions and he likes hanging out with his friends and sing Karaoke.

Theatre Experience:
Most of Wes' performing experience has been playing guitar in rock and jazz bands and flute in orchestras and he has also done a bit of choir work. His first musical experience was late last year in the Civic Centre production of Grease as Doody. He played various roles in the production of Cruisin' Calypso at MITS this year and has done backstage work prior to that.

Scott - Khovy Inthavong


Personal:
Khovy was born in Laos and grew up in New Zealand, he arrived in Mount Isa in 2003 and hasn't looked back since. He has made many wonderful friends here and likes to hang out and share a bottle of wine (or two) with them in his spare time. Khovy was educated in Wellington where he discovered his passion for music performing in the Wellington Youth Choir. Khovy has recently started work at Mount Isa Catholic High as the IT support person.

Theatre Experience:

Khovy's first experience on the stage was as Carmen at the age of 11. In Mount Isa he has pursued his passion for musicals and theatre through starring in several Civic Centre productions such as Les Miserables, Pirates of Penzance and was very popular as Teen Angel in Grease late last year.
He is an enthusiastic MITS member and has appeared in The Gazebo, A Knight to Remember, Midsummer Night's Dream, Vagina Monologues, Cruisin' Calypso and many more.

Nathan - Simon Goss


Personal:
Born in Townsville Simon has travelled around most of Australia. He arrived in Mount Isa two years ago to visit a friend and hasn't left yet. Simon works as a machine operator and is into motorbikes and motor sport (you can see him around town on his Ducati Monster), he also enjoys bowling, reading fantasy novels, he likes fishing and hanging around with his mates.

Theatre Experience:
Simon started out in Grade 2 as a 'soldier' in the Night before Christmas and continued acting his way through primary and high school and completed a Bachelor of Theatre Arts at USQ with a Major in Acting. He did Roving Entertainment for various shows and carnivals and also has short film experience. He likes how the theatre tells a story to people and is interested in how to make people hate, laugh, cry feel sad and happy etc. through his acting. 'I like the instant feedback and energy you get from performing in front of an audience'.
He has been a lawyer, bum, delusional King, a sad no-hoper and a stow-away Elvis since he joined MITS.

Renee - Yvonne Mes


Personal:
Yvonne was born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She has lived in Mount Isa for the last 10 years, and doesnt' look like leaving anytime soon. She works as a teacher at the Mount Isa Institute of TAFE. She likes painting, writing, acting, reading, playing soccer, relaxing with friends and spending time with her son.

Theatre experience:
Yvonne's latest role was as Voodoo woman/ Terri Irwin in Cruisin Calypso, before that she played Rizzo in the Mount Isa Civic Centre production of GREASE, and she directed and acted in the Vagina Monologues last year at the Mount Isa Theatrical Society. She has been involved with the MITS over the last 9 years and has directed and acted in various productions e.g. Stanislawski's Chair, The Diary of Frank Annie, Mort, The sex life of snails, Bombshells, Wyrd Sisters, Run for your wife, and many more.

Celia - Stephanie Dawson


Personal:

Stephanie is 20yrs old, born & bred in Mt Isa . She has an adorable little cat named Warrior and lives with her boyfriend of 4 & a half years, Shane. She is the oldest sibling of 4, and has 1 brother and 2 sisters. Stephanie is studying primary teaching externally but is not sure if that is what she wants to do, so for now she is keeping her options open .
She is currently doing a bit of casual work at Super Cheap Auto to have some money to play with and does the occasional shift at a Day Care Centre.

Theatre Experience:
Stephanie studied drama at school from grade 8-12 and completely kicked arse at it!
She is considering auditioning for acting courses at the end of the year as this is her biggest passion. She feels most alive when she is on stage.
